Apology! I wasn't clear about how I will make accommodations

Hi there - I have an apology to make.

I’m leading my “Spark of an Idea” workshop next week and I haven’t stated publicly that I’d be delighted to offer additional accommodations for people with disabilities.

Shame on me. I presumed everybody who knows me would just assume I’d do this. That’s really horribly self-centered (and ableist, not to mention privileged 😬) and I take full responsibility for being a jerk in this way.

Here is what I already have planned to make it as easy as possible for everybody to participate in the workshop.

• The workshop will be virtual and the platform I’ll be using is zoom.

• Nobody (except me, lol) will be required to turn their camera or microphone on.

• I will not be playing any music at all.

• I will use text-based slides throughout and I am happy to work by typing in the chat, as well.

• I will go at a steady, measured pace. This allows all of us to breathe and not be rushed.

• I will provide an ASL interpreter for the workshop on December 11.

• I will record the workshop so you can rewatch it if you like (it will be available to watch for about a week).

• I’ll provide a complete transcript with the recording.

If you contact me, I’ll be happy to share my agenda and full plan so that you can see if my format will work for you. If not, I want to hear what you would need from me in order to take part in a meaningful way.

I will be offering the workshop twice (Tuesday December 10 at 10 am est/New York time and Wednesday Dec 11 at 7 pm est) and all participants are welcome to attend both sessions if that is helpful.
