I think it's irritating to keep talking about this, too

Imagine for a minute how irritating it is to be a woman who knows we don't have equal rights because of *paperwork*

January 15, 2025

Hi there - As of this writing, women and girls in the U.S. still don’t have the protection of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) as the 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

And I mean “still” as in it’s been 100 years since the fight for the ERA began, and 5 years since Virginia became the final state needed to complete the ratification process AND Joe Biden, then-candidate for president, campaigned on getting the ERA enshrined as the 28th Amendment.

The roadblock now? It’s administrative paperwork.

I’m absolutely not making this up (read my piece debunking the objections to the ERA, here).

I can’t even find the words to describe my outrage on behalf of the 170 million women and girls whose rights are being blocked by the President and U.S. Archivist. That’s right, just two people stand in the way of our equal rights under U.S. law.

Are you tired of hearing about this? I’m exhausted from talking about it. Telling people over and over again that human rights for women - 51% of the U.S. population - is a non-partisan issue, and should absolutely not be considered partisan politics, is demoralizing. Slogging through the data about just how dangerous this lack of equal rights is for women so I can write about it again is heartbreaking and enraging (read my most recent article on it called, “We must dis-ensh*ttify the U.S. for women” here).

Screenshot of the title and part of the first sentence of my article, “We must dis-ensh*ttify the U.S. for women.” Click on image or in paragraph above for link to the article.

So, I’m not about to give up. Please join me in the fight because we still have a few days left to pressure President Biden to do the right thing for all of us.

Screenshot of statement from the League of Women Voters that reads, “As the ERA has met all ratification requirements, the national Archivist can proceed with final certification of the amendment.” Read more at https://www.lwv.org/ERAToolkit

I’ll get back to talking about business, leadership and boundaries next week. For now, thanks for joining me in the fight for equal rights for ALL women and girls in the U.S.

Let’s do this!
