We can promote our work in honest, caring ways
And a reminder about the January 30 event (it's free)

January 28, 2026
Hello there - I don't approach my work as a business coach and strategic planner in a vacuum. I'm mindful that the world is steadily becoming a more brutal place for people who prioritize human rights, justice and liberation. No matter what the world looks like tomorrow, we're still going to need to do commerce and trade with each other. Doing it with honesty, love and care for one another is my greatest hope for all of us.
In that spirit, here are two things I’d like to mention today.
First: I have a new article, “We’re taught to do the work of advertisers by thinking like them. Yuck,” up over in my Patreon group, here. And yes, I do keep that community behind a membership wall (it’s not a paywall but if you have the resources to join as a paid member please do, with my gratitude) because I believe in equity access, and because I want to have bold, challenging, heartfelt and meaningful conversations without worrying about trolls and saboteurs.
And second: Just a reminder that the very special virtual networking event I get to co-host for the Liberatory Livelihood Association is this Friday, January 30, 2026, 9 - 10:30 am EST (New York, UTC -5). You can get all of the details about it here. We’re offering this event as our contribution to “Reclaim the Economy Week,” which is taking place worldwide through February 2nd (more details can be found about it at the registration link). Please share this invitation widely. We’ve scheduled it at a time we hope makes it possible for folks in many parts of the world to attend.
As always, please keep recommending me to friends and colleagues who might need a business/leadership coach or strategic planner (my specialty as a planner is small shops). My equity pricing structure means I can help most folks. I have extensive experience, especially in the area of social justice. Some of my clients run high-revenue businesses, while others run non-profits or one-person businesses.
I try to be transparent about my identity as a white, cis-het, middle-class, non-disabled woman in the U.S., because I think it’s important for my potential clients to know. I often get to work with people who have identities that differ from mine, and together, we are building a more just and equitable world where our lives and work are much better because of it.
Here’s to doing commerce together in caring ways,
Kay Coughlin, CEO and Business Coach, Facilitator on Fire
