Work plans for small shops

Reasonable rates and a fondness for the particular needs of small teams

August 12, 2025

Hi there - Feeling pressure to get moving on a project that ground to a halt over the summer?

If so, let me assure you that you're in good company! I've been helping folks get their projects started or re-started for more than a decade.

Whether you lost momentum while folks were out of the office, or maybe the project was on a list that was unhelpfully labeled "to do in the fall," it happens. A lot.

I can help. Really. I've done countless work plans for small shops - and even one-person shops - to get their projects moving and finished.

What you can expect from me when you engage me to create a work plan:

  • Fees that are reasonable for small shops;

  • Smooth, experienced meeting facilitation to make the most of your time and manage the typical stresses and team dynamics that often occur during planning;

  • Quick turnaround;

  • And a focused, no-nonsense work plan that clearly states who is responsible for what and how you'll know when tasks and deliverables are done. Period.

As always, I like to be transparent that I am a cis-het white woman living in the middle of the U.S. I work with folks of all identities and I know that sometimes my identity is a barrier. My fees are based on an equity pricing model (a lot of people call this a sliding scale). I hope you'll take a chance on me and reach out to schedule a Session Zero conversation to talk about getting your project planned and done.

If you need a strategic plan or a business coach, we can talk about that too. Reply to this email or send me a message here and I’ll send you my (very impersonal) scheduling link so we can find a time to talk.

A graphic offering work plan services. Text reads, "Work plans for small shops; book a session zero to jumpstart your projects; email: Kay @FacilitatorOnFire.net" Image on the rights shows a small group of people in business attire using sticky notes. Facilitator On Fire logo is at bottom of graphic. Backgrounds is in shades of teal ranging from dark to light.

Before you go, just a reminder that I am facilitating a grief circle on Thursday, August 21, 2025, 10 a.m. eastern/New York time (UTC -4). Online, free.

This is a place for people who are feeling grief or loss for any reason (personal, job-related, political, etc.) and might benefit from spending a bit of time where you will not be judged for your feelings. Participants will not be required to say a word or be on camera, though you may if you wish.

I'm offering this through the Liberatory Livelihood Association, where we are creating a community of people and organizations committed to the idea that we can all make a living in ways that are not oppressive.

Register here or contact me by replying to this message.

As always, please keep recommending me to friends and colleagues who might need coaching or business planning. My equity pricing structure means I can help most folks who need a business coach and/or strategic planner, and I have extensive experience, especially in the area of social justice. Some of my clients run high-revenue businesses, while others run non-profits, part-time or one-person businesses.

Have a meaningful day,

Kay Coughlin, CEO and Business Coach, Facilitator on Fire
